Kanivanan is a trusted communications and public policy practitioner. He has worked with a range of stakeholders in the post-secondary education and government spheres to provide strategic counsel and leadership.
Before joining Navigator, Kanivanan was the President of Queen’s University’s Alma Mater Society, Canada’s oldest undergraduate student government. In this role, he was responsible for $14 million in annual revenue and managed assets and directly managed 20 full-time staff. As President, he was the organization’s chief lobbyist, working closely with government and institutional stakeholders to develop public policy at municipal, provincial, and university levels.
Kanivanan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Queen’s University. He cut his political teeth through grassroots involvement in election campaigns, where he worked for a federal cabinet minister on Parliament Hill and served in a senior role for the youth wing of a Canadian political party.
