After yesterday’s announcement, the race to form Alberta’s government is officially on! Wednesday, March 20, is the first full day of campaigning and despite no official party platforms being launched, Albertans have already gotten a taste of what to expect over the next 27 days.
Rachel Notley came out fighting at yesterday’s campaign kickoff announcement. It is clear that the Premier intends to make the election a referendum on leadership and integrity.
Navigator conducted some research in January to ascertain the priority issues for the provincial election. Albertans identified the current state of the economy, job creation, and pipelines as the most important issues.
Jason Kenney and the UCP will be trying to frame the election around those economic issues.
The election has only just begun, but parties are already facing a tough question: in a world filled with an infinite number of potential distractions, what issues will resonate with Albertans?
