Going Green
At Navigator we have undertaken a number of initiatives to better manage our environmental footprint:
- Our office is Bullfrogpowered with 100% green electricity. As of spring of 2010, we have reduced our emissions by 154.14 tonnes of CO2, 199.97 Kg of SO2 and 435.05 Kg of NO. That’s the equivalent of planting 1,200 trees, or taking 46 midsize cars off the road.
- Travelling is part of our business, but we’re constantly looking for ways to minimize its impact. To offset the carbon emissions that result from our air travel we set up a partnership with Tree Canada. Our ground transit provider is in the process of purchasing hybrid vehicles and has made an ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest efficiency and emissions standards throughout its fleet of cars.
- Around the office Navigator is committed to using responsibly sourced paper products in reports and letterhead. We also have a robust recycling program for aluminum, plastic, paper, computers and electronics. Our electronic waste is refurbished by reBOOT Canada and donated to organizations across Canada.
- We have implemented power-saving programs at the office. This is often as simple as making sure we turn off our computers and lights at night, but it also means we use high-efficiency appliances and motion-sensing light switches.
- Our office uses green cleaning products from Dustbane. These products have been certified by the EcoLogo™ program as “Environmental Choice.”
